NT:Cyclone won't be like Yasi: forecasters

Forecasters say the cyclone predicted for the Northern Territory's coast won't be anything
like Cyclone Yasi.

Bureau of Meteorology regional director ANDREW TUPPER says the tropical low hovering
between Darwin and Katherine will probably become a category one cyclone when it reaches
the coast .. about 10 pm tomorrow.

A cyclone watch has been issued .. indicating it could hit Bathurst Island by 10 am on Thursday.

Dr TUPPER says there's a severe weather warning for flash flooding and strong wind
gusts up to 95 kilometres an hour .. but it won't be anything like Yasi.
