LEGISLATURE, HEAL THYSELF!(Main)(Editorial)

We note with interest how some state legislative employees refused to let hard times stand in the way of a jaunt to a Utah ski resort to ponder the finer points of ethical issues.

Overall, the four-day seminar, at the Yarrow Resort Hotel and Conference Center in Park City, Utah, cost taxpayers $2,000. Granted, it's not that much, but in a year when lawmakers and the governor were slashing programs, firing workers and imposing a lag payroll on civil servants, the trip was indefensible.

Yet one of the two staff members of the Legislature's Ethics Committee defended the seminar as a "unique conference." Sadly, there's nothing unique about such faraway …
