Qld: Beattie to visit bush
Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE will meet farmers and environmentalists on a tourof south-west and central Queensland this week.
Mr BEATTIE is under pressure from rural groups to amend proposed tree-clearing limits,which they say place too great a burden on farmers, and to boost a $150 million federal-statecompensation package.
The green lobby is calling for tougher measures to fight climate change and protect biodiversity.
The premier will visit Mitchell and Roma tomorrow (Tuesday) and the Alpha area on Wednesday.
He'll be joined by Environment Minister DEAN WELLS, Natural Resources Minister STEPHENROBERTSON and Primary Industries Minister HENRY PALASZCZUK.
