Vic: Bracks backs pension decision for dumped MP Dean

Premier STEVE BRACKS has defended a decision to give dumped Liberal MP ROBERT DEANa $57,000 a year taxpayer-funded pension.

Dr DEAN, the former opposition treasury spokesman, made an embarrassing exit from statepolitics during the election campaign last year when it was discovered he was not on theelectoral roll.

Parliament's superannuation trustees yesterday decided Dr DEAN should receive the pensionwhich is available to MPs who have served more than 12 years if they leave parliamentvoluntarily.
